MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y. - The Cortland men's cross country team placed three runners in the top 10 and successfully repeated as champion at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Saturday afternoon at Letchworth State Park. With the first-place finish, the Red Dragons return to the NCAA Division III National Championships, Saturday, Nov. 21, in Highland Hills, Ohio. Cortland scored 49 points to hold off Geneseo, the SUNYAC champion, which placed second with 64 points. New York University (79 points), Rochester Institute of Technology (147 points) and St. Lawrence (150 points) rounded out the top five. A total of 38 teams competed in the meet.
Six of Cortland's seven competitors earned all-region honors by virtue of finishing in the top 35. Senior
Eric Stermer (Chenango Forks) was Cortland's top finisher, completing the 8,000-meter course in 25.24.6, to place sixth of 264 runners. Senior Peter Kosgei of Hamilton repeated as individual champion in 24:40.6. Senior
Kyle O'Brien (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) matched Stermer's time of 25:24.6 and placed seventh. Senior
Justin Wager (Guilderland) closely followed O'Brien in eighth place with a time of 25:25.2.

Jerry Greenlaw (Warwick/Warwick Valley) placed 11th in 25:32.3, and freshman
Sean Curry (Syracuse/Bishop Ludden) completed Cortland's scoring with a 17th-place finish in 25:40.7. Senior
Seth DuBois (Altamont/Guilderland) earned the Red Dragons' sixth all-region honor with his 28th-place finish in 26:01.8. Junior
Jared Newell (Queensbury) rounded out Cortland's runners, crossing the finish line 96th in 27:29.8.
