Moessinger, Evans Win Two Events Each in Dual Loss at Ithaca

Jeff Moessinger won the 200-yard butterfly and 1,000-yard freestyle
ITHACA, N.Y. - Seniors Jeff Moessinger (Elma/Iroquois) and Dan Evans (Hamburg) won two events apiece during Cortland's 135-108 dual-meet loss at Ithaca College. The Red Dragons lost for the first time in three duals this season.

Moessinger won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:31.75) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.12), while Evans captured the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.30) and the 100-yard freestyle (47.05). Cortland's other individual victory was a win by senior Caleb VanSickle (Stanley/Marcus Whitman) in the 500-yard freestyle (5:03.95).

VanSickle finished second to Moessinger in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:31.87), while Moessinger placed right behind VanSickle in the 500-yard freestyle (5:05.85). Freshman Dan Maximowicz (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) was second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.70) and freshman Ben Strickland (Stanfordville/home schooled) was second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.11).

Cortland was also a close second in both relays. The combination of sophomore Dan Drew (Hamburg), sophomore Daniel Salvatore (Clarence), sophomore Dylan Scheemaker (Fairport) and senior Matt Young (Schoharie) finished the 400-yard medley relay in 3:45.33, less than a half second off the lead, while VanSickle, Maximowicz, Evans and Young lost the 400-yard freestyle relay by less than a tenth of a second with their time of 3:17.60.
