Barnoski Wins Twice, Anchors Winning Relay in 143-97 Victory at Oneonta

Kristin Barnoski won the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races and anchored the winning 200-yard medley relay team that set a pool record

ONEONTA, N.Y. – Senior Kristin Barnoski (Stanley/Marcus Whitman) won two events and anchored the winning 200-yard medley relay team that set a pool record as the Red Dragons defeated host Oneonta, 145-95, in dual action.

Barnoski won the 50-yard freestyle (25.42) and 100-yard freestyle (56.88) for Cortland, which is now 2-3 in dual-meet action. She also combined with senior Krista Bergquist (West Islip), senior Taylor Houseman (Rushford/Wellsville) and sophomore Michelle Seeger (Oneonta) to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:54.70.

Bergquist took top honors and set a pool record in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.82), and she was runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle (26.33).

The quartet of senior Katie Molzan (Plattsburgh/Peru), freshman Abigail MacDonald (East Amherst/Williamsville North), Seeger and senior Samantha Buckley (Holbrook/Sachem North) set an Oneonta pool record with their winning time of 1:46.13 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

MacDonald won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:37.64) and finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:38.84). Junior Liz Neddo (Syracuse/Fowler) won the 500-yard freestyle (5:35.06) and finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.64), losing by only 0.21 seconds. Senior Lauryn Kaznowski (Kingston) won one diving event (139.00 pts.) and placed second in the other (192.50 pts.), both on the one-meter board. Senior Liz Wasik (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) finished second in one of the diving events.

Buckley earned a second-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley (5:00.42) and Seeger was second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.65). Sophomore Laura Bohneberg (Lockport) placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.59).

Cortland took the top two spots in the 200-yard freestyle relay. In addition to the winning team, freshman Kelsey Roe (Auburn), freshman Molly Miller (Eden), junior Heather Fairchild (Wellsville) and freshman Leah Braymiller (Boston/Eden) placed second in 1:49.54.
