Houseman, Neddo Break School Records on Final Day of SUNYAC Championships; Red Dragons Place Fourth

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Junior Taylor Houseman (Wellsville) and sophomore Liz Neddo (Syracuse/Fowler) each broke their own school records in individual events during the final day of action at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.

Cortland finished fourth out of nine schools in the final team standings. Geneseo won the title with 865 points, followed by Oswego (640), New Paltz (550) and Cortland (528) in the top four.

Houseman posted an NCAA “B cut” time of 2:25.02 to finish in third place in the 200-yard breaststroke. She broke her own school record of 2:26.86, set last season, with her preliminary time of 2:25.29, then broke the record again in the finals. Neddo finished fourth in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 18:03.96. She owned the previous school record of 18:12.88, established last season. Neddo also placed third in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:13.46.

Cortland's 400-yard freestyle relay team of junior Megan Donlevy (Lake Grove/Sachem North), sophomore Brittany Zdybowicz (Buffalo/Kenmore West), junior Katie Molzan (Plattsburgh/Peru) and senior Lauren Friedlander (Woodbury/Syosset)  finished in fourth place (3:40.28).

Five other Red Dragons turned in top-eight performances to close the meet. Junior Samantha Buckley (Holbrook/Sachem North) finished sixth in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:18.80). Freshman Laura Bohneberg (Lockport) placed sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:32.53, 2:32.35 in prelims), with sophomore Rachel Phillips (Angola/Eden) touching the wall seventh in the race (2:32.91, 2:32.55 in prelims). Senior Christina Walrath (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) finished eighth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:24.11) and senior Jeannine McNamara (Williamsville/Williamsville East) was eighth in one-meter diving (355.25 points, 363.75 points in prelims).
