ITHACA, N.Y. - Senior
Sarah Kimball (Liverpool) won the pole vault and junior
Kristen Serikstad (Oyster Bay) placed third in the high jump as Cortland competed at the Kane Invitational, hosted by Cornell University.
Kimball was one of three Red Dragons in the top seven of the pole vault with her winning height of 10' 10". Junior
Nicole Ragard (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) finished fourth at 10' 4" and junior
Katie Taber (Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour) placed seventh at 9' 10". Serikstad cleared 5' 3" for her third-place showing in the high jump. Kimball, Ragard and Serikstad all reached ECAC qualifying standards.
Freshman
Jenna Evarts (West Islip) qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash and finished seventh in 8.38 seconds. Sophomore
Dana Roberts (Corinth) finished seventh in the 500 meters (1:29.41), as did freshman Valerie Basciano (New City/Albertus Magnus) in the 800 meters (2:31.32).
Three other Red Dragons finished 10th in their respective events - junior
Katie Dylag (Williamsville/Williamsville East) in the 3,000 meters (11:01.72), sophomore
Valerie Winberry (Bay Shore) in the shot put (34' 4") and freshman
Brenna Filipello (Bethlehem) in the pentathlon (2,584 points).
