CORTLAND, N.Y. - Senior Riley Hill (Markham, ON/Markham Waxers) scored two goals and assisted on a third to lead the nationally top-ranked Plattsburgh men's hockey team to a 6-1 win over Cortland Saturday night at Alumni Arena in the final regular-season game for both schools. The Red Dragons finished their season at 8-15-2 overall and 5-9-2 in the SUNYAC, while the Cardinals improved to 22-1-2 and 15-0-1.

Sophomore Jarrett Gold (East Setauket/NY Bobcats) scored Cortland's goal off an assist from senior Mike Maier (Rochester/Niagara University). Freshman goalie Mike Reilly (New York/Bismarck Bobcats) made 17 saves in 54 minutes, 21 seconds before giving way to senior Mike Mistretta (Buffalo/Northland College), who stopped two shots over the final 5:39.

Sophomore Dylan Clarke (Belleville, ON/Kingston Voyageurs) added a goal and two assists for Plattsburgh, junior Phil Farrow (Amherst, NS/Nepean Raiders) had a goal and an assist and juniors Eric Greene (Cedar Knolls, NJ/Cobourg Cougars) and Joey Wilson (Newmarket, ON/Newmarket Hurricanes) each scored once. Junior Andrew Willock (Mississauga, ON/Mississauga Chargers) recorded three assists and senior Nick Rolls (Marysville, MI/Sarnia Blast) chipped in with two assists. Sophomore goalie Bryan Hince (Tillsonburg, ON/St. Mary's Lincolns) stopped 25 shots and recorded an assist.

Greene gave the Cardinals the lead at 9:27 of the first period with a wrist shot inside the right post. Maier answered with his 10th goal of the season when he one-timed a pass from Gold who dug the puck out of the corner and the teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the first.

The Cardinals opened up a 4-1 lead after the second period. Wilson netted a power-play goal, his team-high 21st score of the season, just 33 seconds in, and Farrow followed with a shot off Reilly's glove at 2:22. Hill completed the scoring in the period when he converted a 3-on-1 at 17:22.

Plattsburgh added two more goals in the third to seal the win. Clarke netted his 15th of the season when he one-timed a shot on a 3-on-2 and Hill tallied his second of the game at 18:57.

Cortland's five seniors -- Maier, Mistretta, Nick Catanzaro (Buffalo/Boston Harbor Wolves), Mike Egan (Smithtown/NY Apple Core) and Tim Lloyd (Oswego/Oswego H.S.) -- were honored prior to the game.
