Zanetti Breaks SUNYAC and School Pole Vault Records at Syracuse Invitational

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Jake Zanetti (Saratoga Springs) broke his own SUNYAC and school records in the pole vault and junior Joe Keleher (Newfane) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships in two events as Cortland competed at the Syracuse University Invitational.

Zanetti cleared 16' 1” to provisionally qualify for nationals. He eclipsed his previous best of 16' 0.25” set last season. Keleher finished second in the pole vault at 15' 5” and won the 55-meter hurdles in 7.71 seconds.

Senior Niko Viglione (Purdys/Somers) finished first in the 800-meter run with an ECAC Division III Championship qualifying time of 1:56.34. Sophomore Nick Wilson (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) qualified for ECACs in two events, placing second in the high jump (6' 4”) and fourth in the 55-meter hurdles (8.03, 7.87 in prelims).

Sophomore Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) was the runner-up in the 400-meter run with an ECAC time of 50.04 seconds and sophomore Will Razzano (Manorville/Riverhead) finished third in the triple jump (43' 10.5”).

Cortland's other top-10 individual finishers were junior Kyle O'Brien (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) and senior Josh Henry (Truxton/Homer), who placed ninth (4:26.80) and 10th (4:26.87), respectively, in the mile run, and freshman Ken Bucaro (Tully), who finished 10th in the pole vault (12' 9.5”).
