SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior
Sarah Kimball (Liverpool) and junior
Kristen Serikstad (Oyster Bay) each posted victories with NCAA provisional qualifying performances as the Red Dragons competed at the Syracuse University Invitational. Kimball won the pole vault with a height of 11' 5.75” and Serikstad captured the high jump by clearing 5' 5.75”.
Kimball was one of five Cortland athletes to earn a top-10 finish in the pole vault. Senior
Keri Laviska (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) finished third at 11' 0” and junior
Nicole Ragard (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) placed fifth at 10' 6”, both ECAC qualifying heights. Junior
Katie Taber (Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour) and senior
Katie McEvoy (Batavia) were part of a tie for ninth place at 9' 6.25”.
Four Cortland runners finished in the top eight in the mile run, three with ECAC qualifying times. Senior
Alanna Hollborn (Islip Terrace/East Islip) placed fifth (5:13.71), followed by sophomore
Andi Palen (Gardiner/Wallkill) in sixth (5:13.80), junior
Kate Ramsbotham (West Islip) in seventh (5:15.66) and junior
Lisa Holt (Phoenix/John C. Birdlebough) in eighth (5:17.48).
Junior
Mallory Baker (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) finished fourth in the 400-meter run (1:01.75), freshman
Brenna Filipello (Bethlehem) was eighth in the 55-meter hurdles (9.21, 9.09 in prelims) and sophomore
Valerie Winberry (Bay Shore) finished ninth in the shot put (34' 2.25”).
Cortland also finished ninth in the 4x400-meter relay with the combination of junior
Mandy Davey (Amsterdam), Baker, freshman Valerie Basciano (New City/Albertus Magnus) and sophomore
Jess Stanton (Elmira Heights/Thomas A. Edison) being timed in 4:19.15.
