Zanetti Wins ECAC Pole Vault Title; Cortland Ties for Seventh in Team Standings

Nick Wilson finished fifth in the pentathlon
MEDFORD, MASS. – Senior Jake Zanetti (Saratoga Springs) won the pole vault and was one of four Red Dragons to earn All-ECAC honors as Cortland tied for seventh place out of 50 schools scoring points at the ECAC Division III Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Tufts University.

Zanetti and freshman Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster) each recorded an NCAA provisional qualifying height of 15' 11”, an inch and a quarter less than Zanetti's school-record set last season. Zanetti finished first and Pericozzi was placed second by the judges due to number of misses.

Sophomore Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash in 49.71 seconds, less than a half of a second off the school record. Sophomore Nick Wilson (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) finished fifth out of 12 competitors in the pentathlon with 3,244 points. His best finishes in the pentathlon competition were a first-place high jump (6' 3.5”), a second-place 55-meter hurdles (7.98) and a fifth-place shot put (35' 5.75”).

Cortland finished the meet with 30 points to tie with the host school. St. Lawrence was the team champion with 53 points, followed by Amherst with 41.
