CORTLAND, N.Y. – Seniors
Sarah Kimball (Liverpool) and
Keri Laviska (Binghamton/Susquehanna Valley) each provisionally qualified for nationals in the pole vault, and juniors
Mallory Baker (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) and
Kristen Serikstad (Oyster Bay) each won two events, as Cortland hosted the two-day, non-team scoring Cortland Classic.
Kimball and Laviska tied for first place in the pole vault, each clearing an NCAA Division III provisional height of 11' 8”. They both narrowly missed the school outdoor record of 11' 9”, which they both set last season.
Baker won the 400-meter dash in an ECAC Division III Championship qualifying time of 59.01 seconds and was also victorious in the 200-meter dash (26.89). Serikstad captured top honors in both the high jump (5' 1.75”) and the javelin (114' 9”).
Freshman
Alyson Dalton (Sherrill/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) and senior
Brittany Brunetto (Beacon) each qualified for ECAC's in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Dalton finished second in 11:43.51 and Brunetto was third in 11:48.55. Senior
Erin McGrath (Oakdale/Connetquot) and sophomore
Kristin Vespa (Ossining) both met ECAC qualifying standards in the 5,000-meter run. McGrath cross the finish line third (18:27.07) and Vespa was fourth (18:29.36).
Cortland's other ECAC qualifiers were junior
Kate Ramsbotham (West Islip) with her fourth-place time of 4:47.63 in the 1,500 meters and the 4x400-meter relay team of freshman
Veronica Montrose (Clintondale/Highland), Baker, junior
Mandy Davey (Amsterdam) and sophomore
Kristie O'Reilly (Carmel), which finished in third place (4:06.92).
Junior
Erin Sills (Smithtown) placed second in the long jump at 16' 1.5”, Davey finished third in the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.29), freshman
Anna Kolbe (Fultonville/Fonda-Fultonville) was fourth in the 10,000-meter run (43:27.29) and junior
Katie Taber (Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour) finished fourth in the pole vault (10' 2.5”). The 4x100-meter relay unit of freshman
Brittani Sahm (Phoenix/John C. Birdlebough), freshman
Jenna Evarts (West Islip), Montrose and Baker placed third in 51.76 seconds.
