ITHACA, N.Y. - Senior
Sarah Kimball (Liverpool) and junior
Kristen Serikstad (Oyster Bay) each established new school records with their performances at the Cornell Big Red Invitational Sunday afternoon.
Kimball cleared 11' 9.75" in the pole vault to finish second in the event and provisionally qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships. Kimball held a share of the previous school record at 11' 9", set last season. Serikstad won the high jump with an NCAA provisional height of 5' 7". She had tied the school record earlier in the week at 5' 6".
Serikstad also finished second in the javelin with a school record and ECAC-qualifying throw of 119' 10". Sophomore
Valerie Winberry (Bay Shore) qualified for ECACs in the discus with a throw of 117' 9" and freshman
Brenna Filipello (Bethlehem) posted an ECAC time of 16.05 seconds to finish 10th in the 100-meter hurdles.
Junior
Mandy Davey (Amsterdam) missed ECAC qualifying by less than a tenth of a second with her sixth-place time of 1:06.39 in the 400-meter hurdles. Freshman
Jenna Evarts (West Islip) placed ninth in the 100-meter dash in 13.39 seconds, followed by freshman
Brittani Sahm (Phoenix/John C. Birdlebough) in 10th place (13.49).
Three other Red Dragons turned in 10th-place finishes - junior
Sarah Lazarus (South New Berlin/Unadilla Valley) in the 800 meters (2:21.15), junior
Katie Taber (Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour) in the pole vault (9' 10") and junior
Laurel Headwell (Fultonville/Fonda-Fultonville) in the shot put (32' 4.75").
