Kyle O'Brien Sets ECAC Meet Record in Steeplechase; Cortland Ties for Fifth as Team

Kyle O'Brien set an ECAC meet record with his winning time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase
SPRINGFIELD, MASS. - Junior Kyle O'Brien (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) set a new meet record with his winning effort in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the ECAC Division III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Springfield College.

Cortland tied for fifth place out of 56 scoring teams with 32.5 points. Moravian won the title with 64.5 points, followed by RIT (45), RPI and Ithaca (36 each), and Cortland and Buffalo State (32.5 each).

O'Brien won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 9:09.27. Senior Jake Zanetti (Saratoga Springs) finished second in the pole vault with an NCAA provisional height of 15' 9.75", with freshman Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster) tied for fifth in the event at 15' 3.75".

Sophomore Will Razzano (Manorville/Riverhead) finished third in the triple jump at 45' 6.25". Razzano actually tied for the third-best distance, but was awarded third place due to having a better second distance than the other competitor. Sophomore Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) also scored points for the Red Dragons with his fourth-place finish in the 400 meters (49.28).
