Serikstad Ties for Third Place in High Jump at NCAA Championships

Kristen Serikstad is now a four-time All-American in the high jump - twice outdoors and twice indoors
MARIETTA, OHIO - Cortland junior Kristen Serikstad (Oyster Bay) earned All-America honors in the high jump for the second straight season with a tie for third place in the event at the NCAA Division III Championships, hosted by Marietta College.

Serikstad cleared 5' 5.75" - one of four competitors finish at that height. The winner, Ashley Huston of Hardin-Simmons, cleared 5' 7", as did the runner-up. Serikstad and Richard Stockton's Lisa Shepherd tied for third place after each of them finished at 5' 5.75" with four total misses, with no misses at their final successful height. Two others tied for fifth after clearing 5' 5.75", but each on their second attempt. A total of 25 athletes competed, with the top eight earning All-America honors.

Serikstad was an All-American last year with a tie for fourth place. She has also earned two indoor high jump All-America awards with a second place showing this past winter and a tie for fifth in 2008.

Cortland finished tied for 51st place out of 79 schools that scored at the meet with 5.5 points, all from Serikstad's performance. Wartburg College of Iowa won the team title with 52 points.
