Wood Plays "Beat the Clock" in Red Dragons' 1-0 OT Win at Union

Junior Pam Monnier made six saves to earn her first shutout of the season
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Freshman defender Stacey Wood (New Hyde Park) scored with one second remaining in overtime to lift the Cortland women's soccer team to a 1-0 win at Union in the first day of the Union Tournament Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons improved to 4-0 on the season and face RPI on Sunday at noon in the pre-determined format, while the Dutchwomen fell to 2-2 and meet St. John Fisher on Sunday.

After scoreless soccer through regulation, Wood won a battle for the ball at the top of the box and fired a shot into the upper-right third of the net for her second goal of the season. Junior Carly Williams (Emerson, NJ) assisted on the score.

Cortland junior goalie Pam Monnier (East Northport/Northport) made six saves, and Union goalie Abby Stohler stopped five shots.
