ITHACA, N.Y. – Sophomore
Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. III Championships in the pole vault and three other Red Dragons recorded ECAC qualifying performances at the Upstate Challenge, hosted by Cornell University.
Pericozzi finished third in the pole vault at 4.65 meters (15' 3”). He has reached the NCAA provisional standard twice this season, previously clearing a school-record tying 4.90 meters at Cornell in December.
Junior
Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) finished second in the 400-meter dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 50.25 seconds. Freshman
Dash Ellis (Tomkins Cove/North Rockland) placed third in the triple jump at 14.02 meters (46' 0”) and senior
Kyle O'Brien (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) finished fifth in the 3,000 meters (8:49.33), both with ECAC qualifying efforts.
Freshman
Justin Torres (Rome/Rome Free Academy) finished fifth in the shot put with a distance of 13.02 meters (42' 8.75”), followed by sophomore
Mike McQuillan (New City/Clarkstown South) in sixth place at 11.82 meters (38' 9.5”) and freshman
Shawn Wilson (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) in seventh place at 11.22 meters (36' 9.75”). Torres also finished seventh in the weight throw at 12.85 meters (42' 2”).
Senior
Durrell Reed (Syracuse/Corcoran) placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.68 seconds. Senior
Joe Keleher (Newfane) qualified for the 60-meter hurdle finals with a preliminary time of 8.63 seconds, but did not compete in the championship race. Keleher did, however, finish sixth in the pole vault by clearing 4.35 meters (14' 3.25”).
Freshman
P.J. Flynn (Valhalla) and junior
Will Razzano (Manorville/Riverhead) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the triple jump. Flynn recorded a distance of 13.62 meters (44' 8.25”) and Razzano covered 13.44 meters (44' 1.25”).
Freshman
Eric Banks (Westbury) placed seventh in the 200-meter dash (23.43) and eighth in the 400-meter dash (51.41). Freshman
Zac Karpinski (Syracuse/West Genesee) finished 10th in the 200 meters (23.52).
Sophomore
Kyle Fitzpatrick (Washingtonville) was eighth in the 1,000 meters (2:41.82), with junior
Andrew Brusso (Elmira/Southside) 10th in the event (2:43.71). Senior
Schuyler Field (Queensbury) finished eighth in the pole vault (4.20 meters – 13' 9.25”) and freshman
Mike Ofosu (Latham/Shaker) was 10th in the triple jump (12.95 meters – 42' 6”).
