HAMILTON, N.Y. – Junior
Will Razzano (Manorville/Riverhead) and senior
Joe Keleher (Newfane) posted ECAC-qualifying performances during Cortland's competition at the Colgate University Class of '32 Invitational. The event featured 16 schools, including two Division I teams.
Razzano finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 13.56 meters (44' 6”). Keleher tied for second place in the pole vault by clearing 14' 6”. The top three pole vaulters each finished at the same height, but Keleher tied for second due to number of misses.
Senior
Schuyler Field (Queensbury) finished fifth in the pole vault at 14' 0”. Junior
Andrew Brusso (Elmira/Southside) was seventh in the mile (4:24.83) and freshman
Shawn Wilson (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) placed ninth in the shot put (12.28 meters – 40' 3.5”).
Three Red Dragons finished 12h in their events – junior
Tony Nguyen (Gates/Gates-Chili) in the pole vault (13' 0”), junior
Brendan Brethel (Lynbrook) in the mile run (4:34.28) and sophomore
Kyle Martin (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) in the 3,000 meters (9:11.65).
Freshman
Justin Torres (Rome/Rome Free Academy) finished 15th in the shot put (11.97 meters – 39' 3.25”) and 16th in the weight throw (11.89 meters – 39' 0.25”). Sophomore
Kyle Fitzpatrick (Washingtonville) and Brusso placed 15th and 17th, respectively, in the 800 meters – Fitzpatrick in 2:02.50 and Brusso in 2:03.05.
Other Red Dragons with top-20 finishes included sophomore
Steve Manos (Elmira/Southside) with a 16th-place high jump of 1.78 meters (5' 10”) and junior
Sa-id Shakir (Syracuse/Bishop Grimes) with a 16th-place time of 7.44 seconds in the 60-meter dash.
