Dan Evans (Hamburg) won three events and senior
Jeff Moessinger (Elma/Iroquois) and freshman
Kyle Kaznowski (Kingston) captured two events each as Cortland defeated the University of Rochester, 165-135, in a dual meet at Holsten Pool. The Red Dragons improve to 4-2 and the Yellowjackets slip to 2-5 with the decision.
Evans won the 50-yard freestyle (21.78), 100-yard freestyle (48.35) and 100-yard butterfly (53.60) races. Moessinger touched the wall first in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:26.46) and 200-yard butterfly (2:08.08), while Kaznowski won both 1-meter diving (256.20 points) and 3-meter diving (276.25 points).
Other Cortland winners were senior
Caleb VanSickle (Stanley/Marcus Whitman) in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.13) and the 200-yard freestyle relay team of senior
Matt Young (Schoharie), freshman
Dan Maximowicz (Binghamton/Chenango Forks), junior
James McCabe (North Massapequa/Farmingdale) and sophomore
Dylan Scheemaker (Fairport) in 1:30.38.
Sophomore Daniel Salvatore (Clarence) was the runner-up in both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.28) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.57). Moessinger finished second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:08.81), Young finished second in the 100-yard backstroke (56.84) and freshman
Ben Strickland (Stanfordville/home schooled) was second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.49).
