Distler a Triple Winner as Red Dragons Beat Dolphins, 161-118

Dan MacQuarrie won the 100-yard breaststroke and swam the breaststroke leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay team
CORTLAND, N.Y. - Freshman Matt Distler (Glens Falls) won three individual events as the Cortland men's swimming and diving team defeated Div. II Le Moyne, 161-118, in a dual meet at Holsten Pool. Distler won the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.16), the 50-yard freestyle (22.57) and the 100-yard freestyle (49.36).

Junior Travis Burke (Massapequa) won both 1-meter diving (264.60 pts.) and 3-meter diving (296.95 pts.). Freshman Brandon McManus (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon) won the 200-yard butterfly (2:10.10) and touched the wall first as an exhibition entry in the 500-yard freestyle (5:03.54).

Sophomore Justin Nelson (Jamestown/Frewsburg) captured the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:47.66) and sophomore Dan MacQuarrie (Vestal) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.83). Junior Danny Salvatore (Clarence) was the winner in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.89).

Cortland also led off the meet with a victory by sophomore Ben Strickland (Stanfordville/HomeSchool), MacQuarrie, junior Judd Simon (Oneida) and freshman Luke Strothenke (New Paltz) in the 200-yard medley relay (1:40.80).
