GENESEO, N.Y. – The Cortland men's swimming and diving team dropped a 163-131 dual-meet decision at SUNYAC foe Geneseo and is now 2-2 in dual action this season.
Junior
Travis Burke (Massapequa) was Cortland's lone top performer with a score of 270.10 points in three-meter diving. Freshman
Matt Distler (Glens Falls) was second in two events – the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.09) and 500-yard freestyle (5:02.83).
Freshman
Brandon McManus (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon) finished second in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:28.80) and freshman
Luke Strothenke (New Paltz) placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (57.18). Sophomore
Dan Maximowicz (Binghamton/Chenango Forks) was the 50-yard freestyle runner-up (22.54) and sophomore
Justin Nelson (Jamestown/Frewsburg) finished second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.32).
Other Cortland individual runners-up included sophomore
Kyle Kaznowski (Kingston) in one-meter diving (276.35 pts.), junior
Danny Salvatore (Clarence) in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:26.65) and junior
Judd Simon (Oneida) in the 100-yard butterfly (56.33). In addition, the 400-yard freestyle relay of Maximowicz, Strothenke, freshman
Mark Hanifin (Fort Plain) and Distler had the second-best time of 3:19.14.
