MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Six different players scored goals as the Morrisville St. men's hockey team skated past Cortland, 6-3, in SUNYAC action Friday night. The Red Dragons fell to 2-4-1 overall and 2-4 in the conference with the setback, while the Mustangs improved to 4-2 on the season and 4-1 in the league.

Juniors Joey Christiano (Rochester/Port Hope Predators) and Ryan Durocher (Canton/Boston Bulldogs) each had a goal and an assist for Cortland. Junior Peter Lompado (Staten Island/Minnesota St.-Mankato) scored a goal, and junior goalie Brittan Kuhlman (Omaha, NE/Winnipeg Saints) made 44 saves.

Junior Geoff Matzel (Chittenango/NSA) and freshman Curtis Renaud (Carlisle, ON/Trenton Golden Hawks) recorded one goal and one assist for Morrisville St. Junior Tom Longland (Dunnville, ON/Pickering Panthers), sophomores Adam Hercules (Toronto, ON/Winchendon School) and Matt Salmon (Orillia, ON/Couchiching Terriers) and freshman James Jarvis (Pickering, ON/Whitby Fury) scored one goal apiece. Freshman goalie Colin Breen (Waterloo, ON/Waterloo Siskins) stopped 43 shots in his first collegiate start.

Durocher gave the Red Dragons a 1-0 lead at one minute, 21 seconds of the first period with an unassisted goal. Longland tied the game heading into the second period with a goal at 11:48. The Mustangs scored the only two goals of the second period to open up a 3-1 lead after 40  minutes. Jarvis gave the Mustangs the lead for good at 2:36, then Salmon netted a two-man advantage power-play goal just 25 seconds before the second intermission.

Christiano made it a 3-2 game only 1:05 into the third period on a short-handed goal, but the Mustangs scored the next two goals for a 5-2 lead. Hercules tallied his first of the season at 7:33, and Renaud scored at 13:53, less than a minute after the Mustangs called a timeout. Lompado brought the Red Dragons within 5-3 with a power-play goal at 19:24. Cortland pulled Kuhlman after a timeout and Matzel finished the scoring with an empty-net goal at 19:48.
