Four Double-Winners Help Cortland Defeat Oneonta, 152-131

Sarah Culmo won the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle races
CORTLAND, N.Y. – Four Cortland competitors each won two individual events as the Red Dragons defeated visiting Oneonta, 152-131, in a dual meet at Holsten Pool. With the victory, Cortland improves its dual record to 3-2 on the season.

Freshman Sarah Culmo (West Islip) won the 200-yard freestyle (2:03.04) and 100-yard freestyle (56.14). Sophomore Abigail MacDonald (East Amherst/Williamsville North) captured both the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.18) and 200-yard backstroke (2:15.63), while senior Rachel Phillips (Eden) won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.61) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:31.51).

In addition, graduate student Lauryn Kaznowski (Kingston) won both diving events. She scored 221.40 points on the one-meter board and 222.35 points on the three-meter board.

Junior Michelle Seeger (Oneonta) was the 50-yard freestyle winner (25.80) and sophomore Kelsey Roe (Auburn) was the fastest competitor in the 100-yard butterfly as an exhibition entry (1:02.67). The quartet of Roe, Phillips, Seeger and sophomore Jessica Evans (Hamburg) won the 200-yard medley relay (1:54.62). As an exhibition entry, the 400-yard freestyle relay of sophomore Molly Miller (Eden), freshman Caitlin Lanigan (West Seneca/West Seneca West), Seeger and Evans touched the wall first in 3:53.35.

Six Red Dragons turned in runner-up finishes. Freshman Brenna Munz (Poughquag/Arlington) was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:29.00) and freshman Francesca Davide (Ossining) was second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:25.29). Sophomore Katherine Harris (Long Beach) was the 50-yard freestyle runner-up (26.90) and freshman Chrisanna Hickey (Hopewell Junction/John Jay East Fishkill) placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.17). Also placing second were freshman Lindsay Wigderson (Webster/Webster Thomas) in one-meter diving (184.90 pts.) and sophomore Morgan Holden (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) in three-meter diving (186.20 pts.).
