ITHACA, N.Y. and BOSTON, MASS. – Junior
Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) automatically qualified for the NCAA Div. III Indoor Track and Field Championships and broke his own school record in the 400-meter dash while competing at the Boston University Valentine Invitational. The Red Dragons had competitors at both Boston University and at the Cornell University Kane Invitational during the weekend.
Bisceglia finished 10th out of 190 entries in the 400 meters with his time of 48.14 seconds. His previous school record was 49.03 seconds from last season.
Cortland turned in six additional ECAC-qualifying performances at Boston University. Freshman
Eric Banks (Westbury) and sophomore
Zac Farnham-Haskell (Essex Junction, VT/Essex) finished 60th and 70th, respectively, in the 400 meters – Banks in 50.21 seconds and Farnham-Haskell in 50.51 seconds. Senior
Justin Wager (Guilderland) placed 40th out of 205 runners in the mile run in 4:16.24.
Three Red Dragons were ECAC qualifiers in the 5,000-meter run. Senior
Eric Stermer (Chenango Forks) finished 26th out of 97 runners in 14:59.03. Freshman
Matt Knott (Smithtown) was 32nd in 15:08.99 and senior
Kyle O'Brien (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) finished 34th in 15:11.46.

Kyle Fitzpatrick (Washingtonville), who placed 67th in the 800 meters (1:57.97), and the 4x400-meter relay team of Banks, Farnham-Haskell, junior
Phill Wiltshire (Vestal) and Bisceglia that finished 15th of 45 teams in 3:19.28.
Sophomore
Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster) highlighted Cortland's performers at Cornell with a second-place showing in the pole vault. He cleared an NCAA provisional height of 4.80 meters (15' 9”). Senior
Schuyler Field (Queensbury) finished sixth in the pole vault with an ECAC-qualifying height of 4.40 meters (14' 5.25”).
Senior
Joe Keleher (Newfane) finished third in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.59 seconds and senior
Durrell Reed (Syracuse/Corcoran) was sixth in 8.67 seconds. Senior
Darnell Owens (Fallsburg) finished seventh in the 60-meter dash (7.20).
Freshman
Mike Ofosu (Latham/Shaker) and freshman
P.J. Flynn (Valhalla) finished eighth and ninth, respectively, in the triple jump. Ofosu covered 13.41 meters (44' 0”) and Flynn registered a distance of 13.34 meters (43' 9.25”). Freshman
Justin Torres (Rome/Rome Free Academy) was eighth in the shot put (13.72 meters – 45' 0.25”) and sophomore
Steve Manos (Elmira/Southside) tied for eighth in the high jump (1.84 meters – 6' 0.5”).
