GREENCASTLE, IND. – Cortland junior Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) advanced to the finals in the 400-meter dash during the opening day of competition at the NCAA Div. III Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by DePauw University.

Bisceglia finished third in his heat and eighth overall in the preliminaries with a time of 49.81 seconds. The top eight runners out of 12 total competitors advanced to the finals. Bisceglia is guaranteed All-America honors with any finish on Saturday since the top eight finishers are All-Americans.

Two other Red Dragons competed on Friday. Sophomore Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster) finished in 11th place in the pole vault with a height of 4.77 meters (15' 7.75”). He was one of four competitors with the eighth-best height, but the other three cleared it on their first attempt while Pericozzi cleared it on his third try.

Senior Justin Wager (Guilderland) finished 12th in the mile run preliminaries in 4:29.00 and did not advance to the finals. Wager led his six-runner heat early in the race, but lost his left sneaker near the middle of the race and eventually dropped to the back of the pack.

Bisceglia's 400-meter dash final begins Saturday at 2:55 p.m., while freshman Dash Ellis (Tomkins Cove/North Rockland) will compete in the triple jump finals at 3 p.m.
