Bisceglia Earns All-America Honors, Ellis Just Misses Top Eight at Day 2 of NCAA Championships

Dash Ellis finished ninth in the triple jump and barely missed All-America honors
GREENCASTLE, IND. – Cortland junior Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) earned All-America honors with an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter dash and freshman Dash Ellis (Tomkins Cove/North Rockland) just missed All-America recognition with a ninth-place effort in the triple jump during the final day of competition at the NCAA Div. III Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Bisceglia finished the 400-meter dash 50.47 seconds after qualifying for the finals on Friday in 49.81 seconds. The top eight finishers in each event are All-Americans.

Ellis was one of nine triple jumpers in a field of 12 to advance to the finals with his distance of 14.44 meters (47' 4.5”). After the first three jumps, the top nine are given three more attempts to improve on their distance.

Ellis was seventh heading into the finals, but was unable to improve his performance. He finished in ninth place, only one centimeter behind the seventh and eighth-place finishers. The eventual sixth-place finisher from Connecticut College trailed Ellis until his final attempt, which relegated Ellis from eighth to ninth.

Cortland scored one team point with Bisceglia's eighth-place 400-meter finish and tied for 61st place in the final team standings.
