NORTHAMPTON, MASS. – Cortland earned four top-seven finishes to tie for 21st in the final team standings at the ECAC Div. III Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Smith College. The Red Dragons scored 15 points as one of 43 schools that recorded points at the meet. Ithaca won with 64.5 points, followed by The College of New Jersey with 64 and Bates with 50.
The 4x800-meter relay team of freshman
Alexis Fairbanks (Apalachin/Owego Free Academy), junior
Barbara Green (Levittown/Division Avenue), junior
Stephanie McGrath (Camillus/West Genesee) and freshman
Jordyn Naylon (Fairport) finished third in 9:37.94.
Also earning All-ECAC honors with top-eight finishes were freshman
Nikki Schafer (Troy/Columbia) with a fifth-place effort in the pentathlon (2,976 points), junior
Erin Keaveney (West Hempstead/Kellenberg Memorial) with a sixth-place time of 10:37.93 in the 3,000 meters and sophomore
Alyson Dalton (Sherrill/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) with a seventh-place finish in the 5,000 meters (17:58.44).
Three other Red Dragons turned in top-15 performances. Sophomore
Brenna Filipello (Delmar/Bethlehem) was ninth in the pentathlon (2,627 points), freshman
Christi Nassauer (Mount Sinai) tied for 11th in the pole vault (3.20 meters – 10' 6”) and Fairbanks was 14th in the 800 meters (2:20.36).
