CORTLAND, N.Y. – Cortland turned in numerous top-three finishes at its own Cortland Classic, which was held in less-than-ideal weather conditions at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex Friday and Saturday.
Senior
Darnell Owens (Fallsburg) tied for first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.2 seconds. Senior
Schuyler Field (Queensbury) won the pole vault at 4.56 meters (14' 11.5”), followed by senior
Joe Keleher (Newfane) in second place at 4.41 meters (14' 5.75”).
Senior
Durrell Reed (Syracuse/Corcoran) finished second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.3 seconds. Junior
Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) placed second in the 400-meter dash (48.9) in addition to a fourth-place showing in the 200-meter dash (22.7).
Freshman
Justin Torres (Rome/Rome Free Academy) was the runner-up in the shot put at 14.13 meters (46' 4.25”) and was third in the discus at 41.21 meters (135' 2.5”). Other Red Dragons finishing third in their events included freshman
Bryan Rossi (Kings Park) in the decathlon (4,414 points), sophomore
Kyle Fitzpatrick (Washingtonville) in the 800 meters (1:59.7), sophomore
Zac Farnham-Haskell (Essex Junction, VT/Essex) in the 200 meters (22.6), freshman
Shawn Wilson (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) in the javelin (45.22 meters – 148' 4”), sophomore
Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster) in the long jump (6.53 meters – 21' 5”) and freshman
Rob Brower (Massapequa) in the pole vault (4.11 meters – 13' 5.75”).
