Kyle O'Brien NCAA Provisional Qualifier in 3,000-Meter Steeplechase at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – Cortland senior Kyle O'Brien (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) finished in 12th place and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. III Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Thursday night at the Penn Relays.

O'Brien, the lone Division III runner and one of only two non-Division I competitors in the 18-entrant field, finished the race in 9:15.29. Princeton's Donn Cabral won with a time of 8:48.92.

O'Brien is a two-time Division III All-American in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. He finished third nationally in 2009 and fourth in 2008. O'Brien is the lone Cortland male competing at the Penn Relays this spring.
