CLINTON, N.Y. – Freshman
Chelsea Lachman (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) earned three top-10 finishes and senior
Mallory Baker (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) and sophomore
Ashley Gansle (Loudonville/Shaker) each placed in the top 10 twice to lead Cortland's performances at the Hamilton College Invitational.
Lachman finished third in the discus (35.03 meters – 114' 11”) and eighth in both the shot put (10.20 meters – 33' 5.75”) and the javelin (22.80 meters – 74' 10”). Baker was fourth in the 400-meter dash (1:01.24) and ninth in the 200-meter dash (28.11), while Gansle finished third in the javelin (28.09 meters – 92' 2”) and fifth in the shot put (11.01 meters – 36' 1.5”).
Freshman Jessica Andrianos (Camillus/West Genesee) recorded the Red Dragons' best placement with a second-place distance of 35.77 meters (117' 4”) in the discus. Freshman
Caitlin Triantafillou (Getzville/Williamsville North) finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:10.66). Freshman
Michelle Thomas (Greenville) and freshman Britt Krivicich (Middletown/Pine Bush) finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the high jump. They were both part of a group from second to sixth place that cleared 1.50 meters (4' 11”), but received their places due to number of misses.
In all, Cortland athletes turned in 17 individual top-10 showings. Sophomore Valerie Basciano (New City/Albertus Magnus) and junior
Stephanie McGrath (Camillus/West Genesee) were sixth and eighth, respectively in the 800 meters in 2:27.86 and 2:28.60.
Freshman
Karli Johnson (Mount Sinai) tied for sixth in the discus (31.62 meters – 103' 9”), while freshman
Keri Marks (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) and sophomore
Missy Seymour (Saranac) finished eighth (1:05.20) and ninth (1:05.42), respectively, in the 400-meter dash. Sophomore
Katie Poleski (Ossining) crossed the finish line 10th in the 5,000-meter run (22:32.08).
