CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Cortland women's cross country team took five of the top-10 spots and claimed the team title at the second annual Jack Daniels Invitational. The Red Dragons scored 22 points, followed by Ithaca with 37 points, Oneonta with 95 points and Mohawk Valley Community College with 100 points.
Ithaca College's Heidi Baumbach won the 4,000-meter race in 14:57.40. Cortland junior
Alyson Dalton (Sherrill/V-V-S) placed second with a time of 15:05.90. The Red Dragons captured the fifth through seventh spots. Senior
Kristin Vespa (Ossining) placed fifth in 15:27.60, followed by senior
Erin Keaveney West Hempstead/Kellenberg Memorial) in sixth at 15:28.10 and freshman
Dayna Eikeseth (Staten Island/Tottenville) in seventh at 15:33.40.
Cortland also grabbed the 10th through 13th places in the race. Senior
Caitlin Sullivan (Elmira/Thomas A. Edison) finished 10th in 15:42.40, followed by freshman
Emily Cotey (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) in 11th (15:44.00), sophomore
Jordyn Naylon (Fairport) in 12th (15:51.10) and junior
Hannah Hoffman (Rome/Rome Free Academy) in 13th (15:52.10).
The race, which is named for Cortland's former head coach, featured 58 runners.
