BUFFALO, N.Y. – Buffalo St.'s Trevor McKinney scored the game-tying goal with two seconds remaining in regulation, just 11 seconds after Cortland sophomore Michael Lysyj (Hillsborough, NJ/South Shore Kings) gave the Red Dragons a 3-2 lead with an unassisted goal, and the teams skated to a 3-3 overtime tie.

Senior Jarrett Gold (East Setauket/NY Bobcats) led the Red Dragons (3-13-2 overall, 2-7-1 SUNYAC) with a goal and an assist, and junior Peter Lompado (Staten Island/Minnesota St.-Mankato) also scored for Cortland. Junior Jake Saville (Bellingham, WA/Marquette Rangers) collected an assist. Senior goalie Dan Jewell (Medford/National Sports Academy) registered 25 saves.

Daniel Andersson and Drew Klin also netted goals for the Bengals (8-8-3, 4-3-3). Nick Petriello collected two assists, and Anthony Orange, Jim Durham, Justin Knee and Bill Strakosch each chipped in with an assist. Kevin Carr stopped 22 shots in goal.

After a scoreless first period, Lompado gave Cortland a 1-0 lead at five minutes, three seconds of the second period with a power-play score. Andersson tied the game at 9:45 of the second, but Gold tallied an unassisted short-handed goal less than two minutes later and the Red Dragons led, 2-1, heading into the third.

Klin evened the game at 2-2 at the 7:54 mark on the power play to set up the wild finish. With only 13 seconds remaining in regulation, Lysyj netted an unassisted tally for what appeared to be the game winner. With seven seconds remaining, after a Buffalo St. timeout, the Bengals pulled Carr for an extra skater and McKinney sent the game into overtime at 19:58.
