PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Junior goalie Brittan Kuhlman (Omaha, NE/Winnipeg Saints) made 40 saves as the Cortland men's hockey team upset nationally seventh-ranked Plattsburgh, 2-0, Friday night in SUNYAC action. The win for Cortland was its first over the Cardinals since a 6-3 home triumph six years ago to the day and is the Red Dragons' first-ever road win in the series. The win also breaks a seven-game winless streak versus Plattsburgh dating back to a 3-3 tie at home in the 2006-07 season.

The Red Dragons raised their record to 4-13-2 overall and 3-7-1 in the SUNYAC. Plattsburgh had a 12-game unbeaten streak (11-0-1) snapped and fell to 13-5-1 and 6-5.

Senior Jarrett Gold (East Setauket/NY Bobcats) and junior Joey Christiano (Rochester/Port Hope Predators) scored Cortland's goals with juniors Jake Saville (Bellingham, WA/Marquette Rangers) and Peter Lompado (Staten Island/Minnesota St.-Mankato) collecting assists.

Josh Leis made 14 saves in net for the Cardinals.

Gold gave the Red Dragons the lead just 20 seconds into the game off assists from Saville and Lompado. Late in the second period, Christiano scored just 10 seconds after getting out of the penalty box to give Cortland a 2-0 lead at 19 minutes, 54 seconds of the stanza.

Plattsburgh, which out shot Cortland, 15-6, in the third period, pulled Leis for an extra skater over the final 1:33 but could not get a puck past Kuhlman. The Cardinals went 0-for-5 on the power play in the game and held a 40-16 shot advantage. Plattsburgh had scored at least three goals in each of its previous 74 games versus Cortland.
