CORTLAND, N.Y. – Cortland athletes earned four first-place and five runner-up finishes at the Cortland Winter Invitational. The meet was held at the recently renovated Lusk Field House and featured competitors from SUNY Oswego, SUNY Delhi and Mohawk Valley Community College, along with other unattached entries.
Sophomore
Alana Hotchkiss (Cicero/Cicero-North Syracuse) won the long jump at 4.86 meters (15' 11.25”) and was second in the triple jump at 10.31 meters (33' 10”). Junior
Natasha Roseboom (Milford) won the weight throw with a distance of 10.64 meters (34' 11”) and placed third in the shot put at 9.47 meters (31' 0.75”).
Senior
Kristin Vespa (Ossining) was the winner in the 3,000-meter run (11:05.85), followed by senior
Caitlin Sullivan (Elmira/Thomas A. Edison) in second place (11:20.11). Sophomore
Chelsea Lachman (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) took top honors in the shot put at 11.02 meters (36' 2”), with junior
Ashley Gansle (Loudonville/Shaker) second at 9.67 meters (31' 8.75”).
Senior
Kayla Evers (Oneonta/Lighthouse Christian Academy) and Gansle finished second and third, respectively, in the weight throw. Evers recorded a distance of 9.99 meters (32' 9.25”), with Gansle close behind at 9.93 meters (32' 7”). The 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore
