ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Cortland men's cross country team placed 12th out of 16 schools at the University of Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational. Rochester won the race with 42 points, followed by the University of Western Ontario with 54 points. Cortland's 293 points were just two points behind Div. II Mansfield and five points behind 10th-place Houghton College.
Sophomore
Ryan Perry (Buffalo/Williamsville North) finished 54th out of 187 runners in 28:14 over the 8,000-meter course at Genesee Valley Park. Freshman
Jared Walther (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse) finished 63rd in 28:32 and freshman
Tim Odin (Northport) was 79th in 28:55.
Also in Cortland's top seven were senior
Garrett Parker (Whitesboro) in 83rd place (28:59), freshman
Ethan Quanci (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) in 99th place (29:18), sophomore
Mike Kelly (Coram/Longwood) in 113th place (29:53) and freshman
Nicolas Torres (East Meadow) in 127th place (30:33).
SUNY Delhi's Chris Burnett won the race in 26:21, two seconds better than Western Ontario's Kyle O'Neill.
