ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Five Red Dragons placed in the top third of the field as the Cortland women's cross country team finished in sixth place out of 13 schools at the University of Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational.
Div. I Cornell University won the race with 31 points, followed by the University of Western Ontario with 35 points. Laurentian University (112), SUNY Geneseo (117), Rochester (152), Cortland (166) and RIT (170) rounded out the top seven.
Sophomore
Cait Reilly (Warwick/Monroe-Woodbury) earned Cortland's top placement with a 37th-place time of 20:18 over 5,000 meters at Genesee Valley Park. A total of 178 runners competed. Freshman
Jenna Fallon (Waterville) finished 41st in 20:27 and sophomore
Colleen Fischman (Orchard Park/Hamburg) was 49th in 20:38. Freshman
Sylvia Hahn Berman (Loudonville/Shaker) finished 51st in 20:42 and freshman
Jessica Hughes (Pawling) palced 56th in 20:54.
Five other Red Dragons finished among the top 100 runners. Freshman
Amanda Bradstreet (East Rochester) crossed the line 84th and freshman
Marina Pettinicchi (Bellport) finished 85th, both officially in 21:44. Junior
Nicole Hughes (Holland Patent) finished 93rd (21:59), freshman
Emily DeCaro (Cedar Knolls, NJ/Whippany Park) placed 96th (22:06) and freshman
Jessie Zdrowak (Orchard Park) was 100th (22:09).
Western Ontario's Jen Bays won the race in 18:39 and Jade Williams of Cornell was second in 18:40.
