#18 Cortland Now 23-1 After Three-Set Win at Geneseo

GENESEO, N.Y. – Cortland, ranked 18th nationally in Division III, improved to 23-1 on the season with a 25-15, 25-7, 25-17 non-league victory at SUNY Geneseo. The host Knights drop to 11-14 with the loss.

Junior Katie Wick (Cortland/Homer) led a balanced Red Dragon attack with nine kills, three aces and 12 digs. Senior Ashley Coyle (Mt. Hope/Minisink Valley) tallied eight kills and senior Kaitlyn Cooper (Webster/Webster Schroeder) totaled five kills and two blocks.

Junior Kristen Guercio (Smithtown/Smithtown East) finished with 30 assists, eight digs and threer blocks. Senior Jaclyn Lawrence (Marilla/Iroquois Central) and sophomore Krissy Silk (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) recorded 10 and seven digs, respectively.

Three Red Dragons – senior Sheena Asibey (Brentwood), junior Jenna Davies (Brewerton/Paul V. Moore) and junior Natalie Zacpal (Islip) – contributed four kills each. Zacpal also recorded three blocks.

Cortland will play two matches Saturday at St. John Fisher College. The Red Dragons will face the host Cardinals at 11 a.m. and Pittsburgh-Bradford at 1:30 p.m.
