Cortland Fourth at St. Lawrence Hoffmann Invitational

Freshman Nick Marcantonio placed 17th overall

CANTON, N.Y. – Cortland's men's cross country team finished in fourth place at the Hoffmann Invitational, hosted by St. Lawrence University. Bates College claimed the the team title with 53 points. St. Lawrence (75), Geneseo (76), Cortland (133) and RPI (168) rounded out the top five. Seventeen schools fielded complete teams.

Junior Patrick Fannon (West Islip) was Cortland's top finisher, covering the 8,000-meter course in 26:19.4 to finish 15th. Geneseo senior Lee Berube won the race with his time of 24:39.4 more than one minute ahead of the runner-up finisher. A total of 265 runners competed.

Freshman Nick Marcantonio (Glens Falls) finished close behind Fannon in 17th place with a time of 26:25.9. Sophomore Tim Lee (West Babylon) was 30th in 26:42.6, followed by junior Tom Hopkins (Syracuse/West Genesee) in 36th place (26:49.2) and sophomore Cody Amengual (West Babylon) in 42nd place (26:56.2). Rounding out Cortland's top-seven finishers were freshman Mike Ramos (Middletown/Pine Bush) in 43rd place (26:57.1) and freshman Mike Savino (Seaford) in 48th place (27:04.4).
