CANTON, N.Y. – Senior
Alyson Dalton (Sherrill/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) placed first out of 217 competitors as Cortland finished fifth as a team at the St. Lawrence Hoffmann Invitational Saturday afternoon. Geneseo won the team title with 50 points, followed by St. Lawrence (69), Ottawa (97), Plattsburgh (106) and Cortland (112).
Dalton covered the 6,000-meter course in 21:42.9. Freshman Bori Tozcer (Homer) was Cortland's second finisher, placing 15th with a time of 22:59.1. Sophomore
Emily Cotey (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) finished 18th in 23:09.9, followed by junior
Jordyn Naylon (Fairport) in 31st place (23:36.0) and senior
Hannah Hoffman (Rome/Rome Free Academy) in 51st place (24:19.1).
Sophomore
Colleen Fischman (Orchard Park/Hamburg) finished 59th in 24:27.3, while sophomore
Cait Reilly (Warwick/Monroe-Woodbury) crossed the finish line in 81st place (25:03.4) to round out Cortland's top-seven competitors.
Seventeen schools fielded full-scoring teams at the meet.
