BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo St. men's hockey team scored five goals in just over an eight-minute span in the third period to seal an 8-0 win versus Cortland Friday night in SUNYAC action. The Red Dragons fell to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the conference, while the Bengals improved to 4-2 both overall and in the SUNYAC.

Senior goalie Mike Reilly (New York/Bismarck Bobcats) started for Cortland, surrendering six goals and making 27 saves in 48 minutes, 31 seconds before giving way to junior Brittan Kuhlman (Elkhorn, NE/Winnipeg Saints), who stopped six shots and allowed two goals in 11:29.

Trevor McKinney, Dave Lansdowne and Jim Durham each scored twice for the Bengals with Steve Wicklum and Taylor McGraw scoring one goal apiece. John Corrigan and Nick Melligan collected two assists, and six different players recorded one assist. Kevin Carr earned the shutout with 28 saves.

Buffalo St. took a 3-0 lead after the first period on goals from Wicklum, McKinney and Lansdowne. After a scoreless second period, the Bengals seized control with their five-goal outburst. Buffalo St. out shot Cortland, 41-28, in the game and converted 2-of-5 power-play chances, while the Red Dragons went 0-for-5.

Cortland travels to Fredonia St. for a 7 p.m. game on Saturday.
