FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Cortland men's hockey team scored two third-period goals to rally for a 5-5 overtime tie at Fredonia St. after letting a 3-1 lead slip away in SUNYAC action Saturday night. The Red Dragons' record now stands at 3-3-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference. The Blue Devils are 4-3-2 and 2-3-2.

Sophomore A.J. Moyer (Perkasie, PA/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) led Cortland with two goals and an assist. Seniors Joey Christiano (Rochester/Port Hope Predators) and Marcus Oeberg (Leksand, Sweden/Becker College) and junior Matty Davie (Brooklyn/NY Apple Core) each scored once with junior Adam Bevilacqua (Toronto, ON/St. Norbert) and freshman Josh LaRose (Liverpool/Syracuse Stars) collecting one assist apiece. Junior goalie Brittan Kuhlman (Elkhorn, NE/Winnipeg Saints) turned aside 38 shots.

Jared Wynia recorded a hat trick for Fredonia St. Billy Sanborn and Stephen Castriota each scored a goal, while Bryan Ross and Mike Muhs recorded two assists. Mark Friesen made 32 saves.

Sanborn gave the Blue Devils the lead at the seven minute, 25 second mark of the first period, but Cortland scored three consecutive goals to start the second period for a 3-1 lead. Oeberg tied the game at 1:31, Davie gave Cortland a 2-1 lead at 7:17 and Moyer scored his first of the night at 11:43. Fredonia St. answered by closing the period with four straight goals, three on the power play, to grab a 5-3 lead after 40 minutes of action. Two of the Blue Devils' power-play goals came after a Cortland five-minute major late in the period.

Moyer netted his second of the game just 1:49 into the third period on a short-handed effort, and Christiano scored the game-tying goal at 5:40. Each team had a power-play chance late in regulation but couldn't convert. In overtime, Cortland had the man advantage for the final 1:45 but could not net the game winner.
