CLINTON, N.Y. – The Hamilton men's hockey team took a 2-0 lead less than two minutes into the game and went on to defeat Cortland, 3-1, in non-conference action Tuesday night at the Clinton Arena. The Red Dragons fell to 3-4-1 with the loss, while the Continentals evened their record at 1-1.

Senior Joey Christiano (Rochester/Port Hope Predators) scored Cortland's goal off assists from senior Peter Lompado (Staten Island/Minnesota St.-Mankato) and freshman Tyler Virgoe (Aurora, ON/Couchiching Tigers). Junior goalie Brittan Kuhlman (Elkhorn, NE/Winnipeg Saints) made 35 saves.

Sophomores Michael DiMare (Medford, MA/NJ Hitmen) and Evan Haney (Sainte-Marthe, QC/Hamilton) and freshman Pat Curtis (Ashland, MA/Dexter School) tallied goals for Hamilton. Senior Anthony Scarpino (Meadville, PA/Cumberland Grads) recorded two assists, and juniors Andrew White (Franklin, MA/Xaverian Brothers H.S.) and Andrew Jelinek (Great Falls, VA/Tabor Academy) collected one assist each. Sophomore goalie Joe Quattrocchi (Kanata, ON/Drayton Valley Thunder) stopped 23 shots.

The Continentals wasted little time in grabbing a 2-0 lead. Scarpino set up Haney's goal 45 seconds into the contest, and Curtis netted a goal at the 1:57 mark. The score remained the same until Christiano scored at 18:51 of the second period, just 16 seconds after Cortland went on a two-man advantage.

DiMare gave Hamilton back its two-goal lead at 7:59 of the third, scoring on the power play. With less than seven minutes remaining, the Red Dragons had 45 seconds of two-man advantage but couldn't get the puck past Quattrocchi. Cortland pulled Kuhlman in favor of an extra skater in the closing moments with no success.

The Red Dragons return home for a two-game series versus Neumann University on Nov. 25 and 26.
