Chrisanna Hickey won the 200-yard butterfly and swam a leg on the winning 200-yard medley relay team
ITHACA, N.Y. – Freshmen
Krista Caputo (Staten Island/Curtis) and
Michaela Auer (Oswego) each won two individual events in Cortland's season-opening 177-123 dual-meet loss at Ithaca College. Caputo won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:04.04) and 500-yard freestyle (5:23.51), while Auer captured the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.07) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:34.32).
Sophomore
Chrisanna Hickey (Hopewell Junction/John Jay East Fishkill) won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:11.22. In addition, Cortland won both relays. The combination of junior
Katherine Harris (Long Beach), Auer, Hickey and sophomore
Sarah Culmo (West Islip) won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:52.43, while Culmo, Auer, junior
Jessica Evans (Hamburg) and senior
Michelle Seeger (Oneonta) won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:41.84.
Culmo placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (25.45) and Evans was second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.43). Freshman
Ashley Sherard (Valley Stream) was the runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke behind Auer in 1:12.63 and senior
Sara Wynne (Wantagh) finished second in three-meter diving (227.20 points).
Cortland will host Geneseo on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 1 p.m.
