CANTON, N.Y. – Cortland finished in second place out of six schools at the St. Lawrence University Holiday Relays. The host Saints finished first with 151 points, followed by Cortland with 106 and Oneonta with 77. Rounding out the field were Utica (58), SUNY Delhi (51) and Plattsburgh (28).
Senior
Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster) tied his own SUNYAC and school indoor records and set a meet record with his winning pole vault of 4.95 meters (16' 2.75”). He cleared the mark on his second attempt before missing three tries at 5.05 meters.
In addition to Pericozzi, Cortland qualified for the ECAC Div. III Championships in three other events. Sophomore

Connor Ten Eyck (Clifton Park/Shenendehowa) was second in the pole vault (4.55 meters – 14' 11”) and the 4x400-meter relay team of senior

Eric Banks (Westbury) placed second in 1:32.64.
Banks won the 400-meter dash in 50.89 seconds as Cortland took five of the top six spots in the event. Wiltshire finished second (50.93), sophomore
Stephan Linton (Roosevelt) third (50.94), Farnham-Haskell fourth (50.98) and Grisolia sixth (51.76). In the 200-meter dash, Linton finished third (22.86) and Farnham-Haskell was fourth (22.91).
Pericozzi and Ten Eyck led a group of five Cortland pole vaulters who scored at the meet with top-six finishes. Senior
Ken Bucaro (Tully) cleared 4.45 meters (14' 7.25”) to finish third, sophomore
Paul Cuthbert (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) tied for fourth at 4.15 meters (13' 7.25”) and sophomore
Tom Calandra (Williamsville/Williamsville North) finished sixth at 4.00 meters (13' 1.5”).
Prendergast finished second in the shot put (14.04 meters – 46' 0.75”) along with his runner-up status in the weight throw. Sophomore
Jared Thomson (Syracuse/Cicero-North Syracuse) finished third in the shot put (13.84 meters – 45' 5”) and fifth in the weight throw (12.74 meters – 41' 9.75”).
Also scoring for Cortland were freshman
Nick Avossa (Kingston) in the 60-meter hurdles (fourth place, 8.83 seconds; 8.81 in prelims), freshman
Jared Walther (Liverpool/Cicero-North Syracuse) in the mile run (fifth place, 4:34.53) and freshman
Tim Odin (Northport) in the 800 meters (sixth place, 2:05.76).
