CANTON, N.Y. – Six Cortland women won events to lead the Red Dragons to the team title at the six-team St. Lawrence University Holiday Relays. Cortland finished with 164 points for a convincing victory over second-place St. Lawrence (99). Rounding out the field were Oneonta (72), Utica (52), SUNY Delhi (35) and Plattsburgh (29).
Senior
Alyson Dalton (Sherrill/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) set a meet record and qualified for the ECAC Div. III Championships with her 5,000-meter run winning time of 17:21.70. Sophomore
Sarah Bonnell (Norwich) won the 60-meter dash with an ECAC-qualifying time of 7.99 seconds.
Junior
Jordyn Naylon (Fairport) won the mile run in 5:17.34 and senior
Veronica Montrose (Clintondale/Highland) captured the 400-meter dash in 1:00.51. Junior
Chelsea Lachman (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) won the shot put at 11.36 meters (37' 3.25”) and sophomore
Kelly Hugo (Highland) was the pole vault champion at 3.05 meters (10' 0”).

Cait Reilly (Warwick/Monroe-Woodbury) posted the top time at the meet – an ECAC qualifing 1:49.53 – as an exhibition entry. The Red Dragons' other ECAC qualifier, in addition to Dalton, Bonnell and the 4x200 relay, was junior
Nikki Schafer (Troy/Columbia) with her second-place time of 9.38 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.
Five Red Dragons placed in the top six in the 800-meter run, led by Reilly's second-place effort of 2:27.23. Naylon placed third (2:27.80), freshman
Jessie Zdrowak (Orchard Park) was fourth (2:28.15), freshman
Bori Tozser (Homer) finished fifth (2:28.55) and junior
Alexis Fairbanks (Apalachin/Owego Free Academy) was sixth (2:29.56).
Cortland also had five scorers from places two through six in the 200-meter dash. Bonnell earned runner-up status at 26.79 seconds and Montrose finished third (27.01). Freshman
Shay Walker (Harriman/Monroe-Woodbury) placed fourth (27.08), senior
Jenna Evarts (West Islip) finished fifth (27.22) and Schafer was sixth (27.25). Schafer turned in three top-six finishes at the meet. In addition to her 60-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash showings, she also was fifth in the high jump (1.53 meters – 5' 0.25”).
Evarts finished second in the 60-meter dash in 8.13 seconds and junior
Christi Nassauer (Mount Sinai) tied for second in the pole vault (2.90 meters – 9' 6.25”). Walker finished just behind Evarts in the 60-meter hurdles with a third-place time of 8.15 seconds.
Junior
Amber Stephens (Stony Point/North Rockland) finished third in the triple jump (10.77 meters – 35' 4”) and fourth in the long jump (4.85 meters – 15' 11”). Tozser placed third in the mile (5:19.37), Vander Veen was third in the 400-meter dash (1:01.30) and sophomore Lexi Budd (Riverhead) tied for third in the high jump (1.53 meters – 5' 0.25”).
Also scoring points with fifth-place finishes were Henry in the 400-meter dash (1:01.95) and freshman
Heather Eriksson (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) in the pole vault (2.60 meters – 8' 6.25”).
