PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The nationally sixth-ranked Plattsburgh men's hockey team scored the last five goals of the game over the second and third periods to defeat visiting Cortland, 6-1, Saturday night in SUNYAC action.
For Cortland (3-8-1, 2-5-1 SUNYAC), junior
Adam Bevilacqua (Toronto, ON/St. Norbert) scored a short-handed goal assisted by seniors
Peter Lompado (Staten Island/Minnesota St.-Mankato) and
Joey Christiano (Rochester/Port Hope Predators). Junior goalie
Brittan Kuhlman (Elkhorn, NE/Winnipeg Saints) registered 31 saves.
Kyle Taylor led five different Plattsburgh (6-2-2, 6-1-1) goal scorers with a pair of goals. Kyle Kudrock had a goal and an assist, and Alex Jensen, Adam Scuglia and Vick Schlueter each scored once. Jared Docking collected three assists. Josh Leis played the first two periods in goal, making nine saves before giving way to Sam Foley, who stopped seven shots in the third period.
Scuglia gave the Cardinals the lead at 8:06 of the opening period before Bevilacqua tied the game at 1-1 at the 19:26 mark of the period. Plattsburgh notched three goals in the second period and sealed the win with a power-play goal and a short-handed score in the third period.
