Chrisanna Hickey finished in the top 10 in both individual medley events and the 200-yard butterfly
ITHACA, N.Y. – Sophomore
Chrisanna Hickey (Hopewell Junction/John Jay East Fishkill) earned three top-10 individual finishes as Cortland placed seven out of nine schools at the three-day women's swimming and diving Ithaca College Invitational.
The Red Dragons finished with 633 points. Division I Cornell won with 1,975 points, followed by Geneseo with 1,316.
Hickey finished fourth in the 200-yard butterfly (2:11.55), sixth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:29.20) and ninth in the 400-yard individual medley (4:47.80). In addition, she placed 14th in the 200-yard individual medley (2:16.24).
Freshman
Krista Caputo (Staten Island/Curtis) finished 12th in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:47.15) and 13th in the 500-yard freestyle (5:21.33). Junior
Abigail MacDonald (East Amherst/Williamsville North) was 14th in the 400-yard individual medley (4:52.62) and 15th in the 200-yard butterfly (2:20.69), while senior
Sara Wynne (Wantagh) finished 11th in three-meter diving (362.90 pts.) and 14th in one-meter diving (333.05 pts.). Junior
Katherine Harris (Long Beach) finished 14th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:37.55) and 16th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.20).
Two other Red Dragons posted individual top-16 finishes. Sophomore
Sarah Culmo (West Islip) was 13th in the 50-yard freestyle (25.06) and junior
Jessica Evans (Hamburg) finished 14th in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.81).
Four Cortland relays recorded top-10 showings. The 200-yard freestyle relay of Culmo, senior
Michelle Seeger (Oneonta), Evans and freshman
Michaela Auer (Oswego) placed sixth in 1:41.64 and the 400-yard freestyle relay of Culmo, Seeger, Evans and Caputo finished eighth in 3:43.78. Harris, Auer, Evans and Culmo finished ninth in the 200-yard medley relay (1:53.60) and MacDonald, Hickey, Evans and Culmo finished ninth in the 400-yard medley relay (4:09.81).
