CORTLAND, N.Y. - Sophomore Paul Rodrigues (Etobicoke, ON/Toronto Jr. Canadiens) scored with 54 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the nationally top-ranked Oswego men's hockey team to a come-from-behind 4-3 win versus Cortland Friday night in SUNYAC action at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons fell to 5-14-2 overall and 4-8-1 in the conference with the loss, while the Lakers improved to 20-2 and 13-0.
Junior
Joey Christiano (Rochester/Port Hope Predators) and sophomore
Michael Lysyj (Hillsborough, NJ/South Shore Kings) recorded a goal and an assist for Cortland, and senior
Jarrett Gold (East Setauket/NY Bobcats) netted a goal. Freshman
A.J. Moyer (Perkasie, PA/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) registered two assists, and junior

Sophomore Luke Moodie (Burlington, ON/Oakville Blades) added a goal and an assist for Oswego, with senior Dan Bremner (Sarnia, ON/Mercyhurst) and sophomore Jon Whitelaw (Huntsville, ON/Huntsville Otters) each netting a goal. Senior Justin Fox (Whitby, ON/Salem St.) collected two assists, and four other players chipped in with one assist. Junior goalie Paul Beckwith (Cleveland, OH/Pembroke Lumber Kings) turned aside 21 shots.
Whitelaw gave the Lakers the lead at six minutes, 41 seconds of the first period when he one-timed a shot out of the air on the power play. Gold tied the game less than three minutes later, also on the power play, when his one-time shot from the slot beat Beckwith between the pads.
Christiano gave the Red Dragons a 2-1 lead with a rebound goal at 12:53 of the second period. Shortly after the score, Cortland killed off 90 seconds of an Oswego two-man advantage to hold the lead heading into the third period.
At 16:52 of the third, Lysyj made it a 3-1 game as his snap shot from the low slot snuck inside the left post. The Lakers answered just 18 seconds later when Moodie found the top corner from the left side. Oswego sent the game into overtime 55 seconds later on Bremner's spinning shot that found the left side of the goal.
Early in overtime, Kaleta broke in on Beckwith, but the Oswego goalie made the save to deny the possible game winner. Then, with less than a minute remaining, Fox fed a pass to Rodrigues who skated in alone and put a shot top shelf to keep the Lakers perfect in SUNYAC play.
