Red Dragon Relays Shine at ECAC Div. III Championships

Tim Scheftic finished seventh in the long jump
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Cortland quartet of sophomore Eric Banks (Westbury), junior Zac Farnham-Haskell (Essex Junction, VT/Essex), freshman Stephan Linton (Roosevelt) and senior Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) set a school record in the 4x200-meter relay and hit an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 4x400-meter relay at the Eastern Conference Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Cortland finished 12th out of 53 teams that scored at the meet, which was held at the New York City Armory. The Red Dragons scored 26 points. Buffalo State won the team title with 77 points, followed by Bates with 49.

The 4x200-meter relay finished third in 1:29.62, eclipsing the previous school record of 1:29.76 set by Nick Wetherby, Tynez Wilson, Amaan Siddeeq and J.J. Riese in 2006. The event is not held at the NCAA Div. III Championships. The 4x400-meter relay placed third in 3:17.73. The time is an NCAA provisional mark, but the Red Dragon foursome posted a school-record 3:16.88 earlier this year at Boston University.

Junior Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster) finished fourth in the pole vault with an NCAA provisional height of 4.86 meters (15' 11.25”). Freshman Brandon Loomis (Rocky Point) placed fifth in the high jump. His height of 1.95 meters (6' 4.75”) was tied for the third-best height, but he finished fifth due to more misses than the other two he tied with.

Freshman Cody Amengual (West Babylon) finished sixth in the 800 meters (1:54.88), with junior teammate Kyle Fitzpatrick (Washingtonville) 13th in 1:55.96. Freshman Tim Scheftic (Dryden) finished seventh in the long jump with a distance of 6.73 meters (22' 1”) and senior Will Razzano (Manorville/Riverhead) was 10th in the triple jump at 13.86 meters (45' 5.75”).
