PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior
Ryan Pericozzi (Lancaster) won the pole vault with an NCAA provisional qualifying height and five other Red Dragons qualified for the ECAC Championships during the two-day Sam Howell Invitational, hosted by Div. I Princeton University.
Pericozzi claimed top honors among 30 pole vaulters with his height of 4.85 meters (15' 11”). Freshman
Tom Calandra (Williamsville/Williamsville North) and junior
Ken Bucaro (Tully) each cleared an ECAC-qualifying 4.40 meters (14' 5.25”) and finished ninth and 10th, respectively, due to number of misses.

Tim Scheftic (Dryden) covered an ECAC-qualifying distance of 6.81 meters (22' 4.25”) to finish third out of 15 in the long jump. Senior
Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) tied for third in a field of 36 sprinters in the 400-meter dash with an ECAC time of 49.11 seconds. Also reaching an ECAC standard was senior
Phill Wiltshire (Vestal) with his 10th-place time of 56.53 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles.
Senior
Will Razzano (Manorville/Riverhead) finished fourth in the triple jump at 13.23 meters (43' 5”) and sophomore
Josh Daves (Huntington) was fifth in the long jump at 6.66 meters (21' 10.25”). Senior
Nick Wilson (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) turned in a ninth-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 49.50 meters (162' 5”).
Sophomore
Eric Banks (Westbury) finished 11th out of 32 sprinters in the 200-meter dash (22.73) and 13th in the 400-meter dash (50.15), while Bisceglia was 14th in the 200 meters (22.80). Sophomore Robert Brower (Massapequa) tied for 14th in the pole vault (4.20 meters – 13' 9.25”) and freshman
Cody Amengual (West Babylon) was 19th out of 47 in the 1,500 meters (4:05.05).
