CORTLAND, N.Y. – Freshman
Sarah Bonnell (Norwich) won three events, all with ECAC Div. III Championship qualifying performances, during the two-day Cortland Classic women's outdoor track and field meet at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex.
Bonnell won the 100-meter dash in 12.65 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 25.82 seconds. She also captured the long jump with a leap of 5.48 meters (17' 11.75”).
Graduate student
Kristen Serikstad (Oyster Bay) won the high jump with a height of 1.65 meters (5' 5”), an NCAA provisional qualifier. Freshman
Cait Reilly (Warwick/Monroe-Woodbury) won the 400-meter dash with an ECAC-qualifying time of 59.55 seconds.
Two Cortland relays finished first with ECAC times. The 4x100-meter relay of junior
Brittani Sahm (Phoenix/John C. Birdlebough), junior
Jenna Evarts (West Islip), junior
Veronica Montrose (Clintondale/Highland) and Bonnell were clocked in 50.18 seconds, and the 4x400-meter relay of Evarts, Montrose, junior
Liz Henry (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) and junior
Val Basciano (New City/Albertus Magnus) turned in a time of 4:00.52. The Red Dragons' second-place 4x400-meter relay team of freshman
Trisha Clark (Pulaski), sophomore Lex Grable (Pine Bush), Reilly and junior
Abby Vander Veen (Delanson/Faith Bible Academy) also qualified for ECAC's in 4:01.30.
Four other Red Dragons recorded ECAC qualifying performances. Sophomore
Jordyn Naylon (Fairport) finished second out of 21 in the 1,500 meters (4:46.96) and sophomore
Jess Andrianos (Syracuse/West Genesee) was second in the discus (36.73 meters – 120' 6”). Freshman
Dayna Eikeseth (Staten Island/Tottenville) and freshman
Emily Cotey (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) finished third (18:41.18) and fourth (18:42.15), respectively, in the 5,000 meters.
Cortland claimed the top eight spots out of 27 sprinters in the 200-meter dash. In addition to Bonnell's victory, Evarts finished second (26.51), Vander Veen was third (26.55) and Montrose was fourth (26.56). Clark placed fifth (26.92), Reilly finished sixth (26.98), freshman
Jackie Hoffman (Lancaster) was seventh (27.08) and Grable finished eighth (27.24).
Sahm finished second in the 100-meter dash (13.40) and freshman
Kelly Hugo (Highland) was second in the pole vault (3.10 meters – 10' 2”). Henry was second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.43).
Sophomore
Chelsea Lachman (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) turned in four top-eight field finishes. She was third in the shot put at 10.65 meters (34' 11.25”), fifth in the discus at 33.57 meters (110' 2”), eighth in the javelin throw at 24.86 meters (81' 7”) and eighth in the hammer throw at 34.81 meters (114' 2”). Junior
Ashley Gansle (Loudonville/Shaker) finished fourth in the shot put (10.60 meters – 34' 9.5”) and sixth in the javelin (27.69 meters – 90' 10”).
Grable finished third (1:00.81) and Clark was fifth (1:01.74) in the 400-meter dash. The Red Dragons' four top-eight finishes in the high jump included Serikstad's winning effort along with sophomore
Brittany Krivicich (Middletown/Pine Bush) in fourth place, sophomore
Nikki Schafer (Troy/Columbia) in fifth place and sophomore
Michelle Thomas (Greenville) in a tie for seventh place. Krivicich and Schafer each cleared 1.50 meters (4' 11”) and Thomas reached 1.45 meters (4' 9”).
In the heptathlon, sophomore
Katie Darling (Delhi/Delaware Academy) finished third with 3,512 points, Schafer was fourth with 3,396 points and junior
Brenna Filipello (Selkirk/Bethlehem) placed sixth with 2,793 points.

Emily Ingalls (Geneseo) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (4th place, 12:57.25), sophomore
Amber Stephens (Stony Point/North Rockland) in the long jump (5th place, 4.94 meters – 16' 2.5”), sophomore
Caitlin Triantafillou (Getzville/Williamsville North) in the 400-meter hurdles (5th place, 1:11.20) and freshman
Hannah Hoffman (Rome/Rome Free Academy) in the 5,000 meters (19:29.91). Also, senior

Karli Johnson (Mount Sinai) finished fifth (35.75 meters – 117' 3”) and seventh (35.38 meters – 116' 1”), respectively, in the hammer throw.
