BETHLEHEM, PA. – The 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore
Eric Banks (Westbury), junior
Zac Farnham-Haskell (Essex Junction, VT/Essex), senior
Phill Wiltshire (Vestal) and senior
Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) set a new school record with its first-place effort at the ECAC Div. III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Moravian College.
The Red Dragon quartet won the race in 3:13.22, eclipsing their own school mark of 3:14.08 set last season. The time is easily an NCAA provisional qualifier and just missed automatic qualifying status by 22 hundredths of a second.
Cortland finished eighth out of 58 schools that scored at the meet with 29 points. Bates College won the ECAC title with 63 points, followed by Williams with 44.
Six other Red Dragons scored points with top-eight performances, all in field events. Freshman
Tim Scheftic (Dryden) finished fourth in the long jump at 6.98 meters (22' 11”). Sophomore
Josh Daves (Huntington) was sixth in the event at 6.77 meters (22' 2.5”).

Tom Calandra (Williamsville/Williamsville North) and senior
Schuyler Field (Queensbury) each cleared 4.32 meters (14' 2”). Based on misses, Calandra finished seventh and Field was eighth.
The top eight finishers in each event are recognized as All-ECAC performers.
Cortland will complete its season May 26-28 at the NCAA Div. III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. The final qualifier list for nationals will be announced earlier that week.
